With swimsuit season upon us, I thought it appropriate to share some lean, gut healthy meals, that will help keep bloat at bay while you’re having fun in the sun.
I recently threw this meal together after a trip to Trader Joe’s, and it was so good! It’s quick, easy, and only three ingredients!
On my last trip to Trader Joe’s I went a little crazy stocking up on easy meals (and wine) for those days when I don’t feel like cooking. They have so many healthy (and gluten free) options and great values at Trader Joe’s, it’s hard to resist!
I made this meal when Will was out of town for the weekend and I just wanted to do something quick and easy. I have also been trying to eat a little leaner to get ready for swimsuit season, and this meal is swimsuit friendly because there are no carbs, and it includes sauerkraut!
Fermented foods are good to eat year round, but especially in the summertime, because they help balance and regulate your gut health. When your gut is healthy, everything just works better. Consuming gut healthy foods on a regular basis will also naturally help you to slim down without changing too much else in your day to day routine.
What you need:
- Chicken Sausage (I used the Garlic and Herb Chicken Sausage)
- Sauerkraut
- Mustard of your choice (I love Great Value’s Southwest Hot Mustard!)
What to do:
- Slice up the chicken sausage, and heat up in a skillet with a little bit of olive oil until the sausage starts to brown (you can grill the sausage too, if you like).
- Get your bowl, add some sauerkraut, top with sausage and mustard, and enjoy!
The Trader Joe’s sauerkraut is so tasty with the pickled Perisian cucumbers in them, you just have to try it if you’re a fan of sauerkraut.
Let me know if you try this recipe, and make sure you’re signed up for emails so you don’t miss a post!
Cheers,
Ship
