Nordstrom Anniversary Sale |N Sale Staples

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale |N Sale Staples

Jumping for joy because it’s that time of year again! Are you shopping the N Sale this year? I always tend to purchase a couple things because I view the NSale as a time to buy some wardrobe staples that normally don’t go on sale. This year I am planning on snagging another Leo Henley Tunic, possibly some shoes (my feet grew again with my last pregnancy), and some Barefoot Dreams as gifts for the holidays! I have combed through the N Sale to find you staple items that you can wear forever, and am sharing some favorites that I am eyeing this year.

Honestly, I have mixed feelings about the NSale because I don’t want to promote over spending, or buying a lot of things that you don’t need. Also, let’s face it, most of us aren’t going anywhere this year. If you follow me on Instagram, however, you know I love my wardrobe staples! So when it comes to the NSale, I look for wardrobe essentials that rarely go on sale. While I do have a lot of the items that I am highlighting this year, I didn’t buy them all at once. I have been adding classic pieces to my wardrobe little by little for years! The best thing about staple items are that you can wear them forever!

Last year I was pregnant for the NSale, so aside from buying a couple maternity items and some shoes, I didn’t get a whole lot. Lately I have been trying to find deals mostly on shoes because after two pregnancies in the past three years, most of my nice, leather shoes have become too small! That being said, most of the pictures in this post are from last year, and previous NSale purchases. If the item is something that’s carried every year I’ve linked it, otherwise I have tried to link similar items if they are no longer available. I’m also sharing what I’m looking at buying this year!

Be sure to follow @ShipsHQ on Instagram and on the app for updated pics throughout the month on my purchases!

Not sure about when the NSale starts? It has already started for some select cardmembers, but opens August 13 to all cardmembers. If you don’t have Nordstrom’s credit card, the sale opens on August 19th and goes through the 30th. I don’t advocate for opening up a bunch of credit cards, but the Nordstrom Card is great to get early access to sale items that sell out quickly, and they do have a reward program where you can get discounts on your purchases. You can find more information HERE about the card, but remember it’s best practice not to buy if you don’t have the money to pay it off at the end of the month.

If you buy one thing this N Sale, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Leo Henley Tunic. It was my best seller last year! I purchased this top because I was pregnant, and I literally lived in it last year. I will probably live in it again this year once that crisp fall air starts hitting the south. I haven’t decided if I want the olive, or black, but I WILL BE GETTING ANOTHER ONE THIS YEAR.

SHIP’S TIP: This top is oversized so be sure to size down.

Another fall and winter staple (that goes perfect with the Leo Henley Tunic) are SPANX FAUX LEATHER LEGGINGS. Not all Spanx leggings suck you in perfectly (I have tried most of them), but these y’all! I have the regular and the moto leggings (not part of the sale this year). I also bought my sister the quilted ones, and she loves them!

If you’re looking for a cardigan to LIVE IN this fall and winter, you NEED to invest in some Barefoot Dreams! I purchased a Barefoot Dreams cardi last year, and I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner! It is 100% worth the investment… SO warm and cozy! I loved it so much, I am going to buy one for my sister for her birthday this year too. The barefoot dreams cardigans usually start at around $100, but for the NSale, some are on sale for as low as $65!

Other outerwear staples that I have invested in over the years are leather jackets, denim jackets, utility jackets, trench coats, and other long cardigans. Some of the jackets I’ve purchased are well over 10 years old, and I’m still wearing them. Like I have said before, it’s worth it to invest in quality staples that last.

Being a mom of two, you will rarely find me in heels these days. Most days you can find me in sandals, Supergas, or a good pair of flats. I like my flats with a pointed toe because it elongates the leg, and I feel like they just look better in general when you pair them with skirts, which I like do do for work.

This year I’m looking at getting another pair of classic white sneakers because I love white sneakers with everything, including skirts! I also want these Vince Camuto booties, but I can’t decide on classic tan or snakeskin. I am keeping my fingers crossed that the sale shoes I’m eyeing this year don’t sell out too quickly and will still be available in my size!

SHIP’S TIP: Try to find booties with cut outs on them (that aren’t straight across) because booties that are straight across the ankle can cut off your leg and make you look shorter.

Can we say SPANX anyone!? Spanx RARELY go on sale, so the N Sale is THE BEST time to get your smoothing shape wear that you need for work and special occasions! As a lawyer who loves a good pencil skirt outfit, I always wear my Spanx to work. I love the support they give, as well as smoothing and slimming out all the mom curves I have now. Some Spanx are LESS THAN $30!

Note: I have tried the Target line of Spanx, as well as other brands because I don’t like to pay top dollar for underwear, but nothing compares to actual Spanx!

Last year, I bought some True & Co. bras, and they are SO comfortable and buttery soft! I also love how smoothing they are on my back. They are great to wear with sheer blouses and dresses too as an undershirt!

The N Sale is a perfect time to snag a designer bag and some accessories if you’re looking to give your handbags a refresh. Here are my favorites this year:

Since a lot of my pictures in this post are from when I was pregnant last year, I thought I should throw in a few Baby N Sale finds. I purchased some of the Como Tomo bottles for my newest addition, and I really love them because I no longer have to deal with all those bottle inserts that are so annoying to clean every day.

If you’re thinking forward to the holiday season, like I am already, you can never go wrong with an Anthro Candle or a nice throw for someone special to cozy up with. There are some gorgeous Barefoot Dreams Throws and pillows for under $100 and also chunky knit blankets!

I hope you all enjoyed my picks for this year’s N Sale! Be sure to follow me on Insta @ShipsHQ for updates on what I was able to snag! Best wishes that everything you want is in stock, and HAPPY SHOPPING!
