Cotton Boll Pillow

Cotton Boll Pillow

Hi friends! This post is very near, and dear to my heart because I’m sharing a new baby that I have been working on, and my first product launch! Fall is almost upon us, and I am just so antsy to get out all my fall decor. I love this time of year, when the air gets crisp, and the cotton is blooming!

As you probably already know, I love to sew. I have recently been obsessed with ticking stripe fabric, and wanted to make some new accents for my home. It popped in my head one day, that it would be cute to make a ticking stripe pillow, with a cotton boll appliqué. There is a lot of cotton farming in our town, and my husband’s family has a history of working in the cotton industry, so cotton is also symbolic for us (and not just a cute fall accent!).

That being said, I do love me some trendy cotton decor! I have a cotton wreath in my entryway and some cotton stems in vases…

Because cotton is white, it is a great neutral that you can have out all year, not just in the fall. And that is how I wanted to make this pillow! I do love all the fall colors, but I wanted to create something that you could have out year round too.

I ended up using an off-white and gray ticking stripe fabric for the pillow, and added an off-white and ecru velvet appliqué. I thought the velvet appliqué adds a little extra elegance to the pillow, and it is just oh so soft!

I loved how this pillow turned out so much, that I wanted to share it with you all too! I re-opened my Etsy shop  (after about a six year hiatus) so you can order them online! I also spoke with my friend, Chelsea, who owns Birdie Designs (be sure to follow her on Insta @birdie_designs), in Old Town Hall on the Covington Square, and she agreed that I could put some of my pillows in her shop!

You can purchase these pillows in a down, or poly fill; and if you’re shopping online and live close enough for a local pickup, you can use code SHOPLOCAL so you don’t have to pay for shipping (or you can just send me a DM!).

I do have several pillows ready to ship now (although online it says made to order), so shop now so you won’t have to wait!

Be sure to head to the Covington Square and check out Birdie Designs in Old Town Hall for Last Call Before Fall on August 29th at 6 P.M., and also for Heritage Festival on September 28th!
