The eyes are a very delicate part of our skin that needs a lot of TLC. After all, you want the “window to your soul” to be bright and cheerful, right? Here are some of my tips and tricks that I use to take care of and to soothe my eyes.

I luckily don’t have too many issues when it comes to my eyes (aside from having to wear glasses, and fine lines and wrinkles!). I do get some darker circles these days with having a baby, and all, and am starting to see some wrinkles around the eyes, but years of smiling will do that to you so what can you do!?
General Care
When applying products to the eye, in general, I always apply from the outside in. With moisturizer, put a pea size of your eye cream or gel on your ring fingers and lightly pat around the eye. This helps lift the eye (working against gravity), and more importantly, keeps you from pulling and stretching that delicate skin down day after day. Same concept applies for MOISTURIZING your face.
When it comes to eye products serums and moisturizers are not the same. I like to use a combination of the two because they both can provide different benefits to your eyes.
Dark Circles
Staying hydrated, maintaining proper nutrition, and getting a good nights sleep can do a lot to help keep your eyes looking healthy. Here are some natural remedies that are supposed to help with dark circles:
- Cold Cucumber Slices (Ahhh, so refreshing! I’ve tried these before, and they definitely brighten and tighten up your eyes.)
- Baking Soda (I have read that making a paste of baking soda and water, or baking soda and lemon and letting it sit under your eyes is supposed to help brighten dark circles. I’m going to try this one. Be careful with lemon and baking soda around the eyes though; it can be irritating!)
- Potato (Use like cucumber slices; potatoes supposedly have bleaching agents in them to help lighten under-eye circles)
I am really loving this Eye Renewal Serum from Tula Probiotic Skincare right now. It is a pump dispenser with this metal tip applicator that feels cold and so good on your eyes (great for puffiness). The serum has caffeine and other superfoods in it to help brighten, and tighten your eyes. I have been using this product for several months now, and can really tell a big difference in my eyes. The brightness seems to last as well!
Probiotics help moisturize, clear the skin, and reduce inflammation.
Puffiness
If my eyes are ever puffy, I use some of these remedies to help reduce the appearance of puffiness:
- Tea Bags (Save a used tea bag from that last cup of tea and put it in the fridge for a treat for your eyes! It is very soothing, and also will help tighten your skin)
- Jade Roller (Roll your eyes with a good serum and a refrigerated jade roller; feels awesome, and takes away puffiness), or you can use cold spoons on your eyes
- Cucumbers
Eye masks are another great way to reduce puffiness and revitalize the eye. Tip: Put them in the fridge before use!

I am really loving Tula’s Revitalizing Eye Cream in conjunction with their Eye Renewal Serum. Using these products together, I have seen a big difference in the brightness of my eyes, and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles.
I love taking my probiotic supplements, and know how great they are for you internally, so when I heard about Tula Probiotic Skincare, I was very intrigued about using it externally also! I have tried the above pictured products (and their face wash), and have been very pleased with how bright and soft it has made my skin.
Overall, Tula’s products have reduced redness in my skin, evened out my skin tone (my two main skin issues after having a child), and have made my skin so soft! READ MORE ABOUT TULA’S NATURAL INGREDIENTS AND WHAT PROBIOTICS DO FOR YOUR SKIN HERE.

Some other favorite, brightening moisturizers that I have used in the past are Benefit’s It’s Potent Eye Cream, Origin’s GinZing, Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Eye, and any Mario Badescu eye cream for a good night treatment (especially their Bee Pollen Eye Cream).
Serums
In addition to Tula’s Eye Renewal Serum, I am really loving Dr. Brandt’s Needles No More, No More Baggage, eye depuffing gel. This stuff tightens your eyes instantaneously, and the feeling lasts throughout the day! The salmon color of the gel helps neutralize dark circles, and the rest of the ingredients are just pure magic! I use it in conjunction with a moisturizer.
This eye gel came in my Spring FabFitFun Box, and I’m really glad that I was able to discover this product through the box. You can shop NO MORE BAGGAGE HERE (or order the Spring FabFitFun box for about the same price!). I will definitely try more Dr. Brandt in the future because, this is such a quality product.
Other serums that I love are Drunk Elephant’s Shaba Complex Eye Serum, Dior One Essential Eye Serum (I scored this in a sample size, and it was divine), and Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Concealer.
Concealers
When all else fails, grab your concealer! I will not leave the house without, at the least, putting on a little concealer. These are some of my favorites:
