Even though I haven’t been in school for a while, come August, I always get myself a new planner. I love starting a new planner in August, instead of January because, it gives me an opportunity to assess myself mid year to see how I’m doing on my goals from the beginning of the year. It gives give me an extra opportunity to get back on track, and maybe set some new goals.
Getting an August planner is like starting a new year, but mid-year! You’re starting out on a fresh, clean slate, with lots of writing space to begin anew, and schedule your day to day, so that you can achieve everything on your to-do’s.
Does anyone else get excited about getting a new planner each year? When it comes to work, and to do lists, I need something physical to look at to function properly and actually get things done (I can’t just rely on those dots on my phone!). I’ve put together some of my favorite agendas to share with you. Hope you love them as much as I do!

For some reason I don’t like regular, twelve month, January to December Calendars. I need at least a 17 month, August through December of the following year calendar. I often have work (and now blog content!) to schedule a few months in advance, so I need all those extra months to plan ahead.
The best planners have a monthly overview so you can see the whole month at once, and also have a day by day, so you can write out your schedule more in depth, or make other notes, and to do’s as necessary. All the planners below have plenty of writing space to meet your every need!
Lilly Pulitzer
Lilly Pulitzer agendas have been my absolute favorite for several years now. They are bright and cheery, making them hard to misplace; and they’re just fun! I love the different Lilly prints and graphics they have month to month, and as a bonus, they have a sheet of stickers in every planner, so you can mark special days on your calendar (or just occasionally give them to kids like I do).
Another bonus of the Lilly Planners is that, once you’re done using your planner, you can save all that pretty paper and repurpose it for a fun art project! I did a cluster of Lilly paper framed in small white frames from Ikea (similar here) for our nursery, and I have received so many compliments on it! It was a very cheap project, but made a big impact in the room.
A lady who worked at a Lilly store once told me also, that some people buy several planners once they go on sale at the end of the year (the old planners get marked down really low in store) just so they can use all the Lilly paper for crafts!
