Beach Trip | Sandestin

Beach Trip | Sandestin

I recently went on a girls beach trip with my in laws and a family friend. It was so nice to get away and relax for a few days in the Florida sunshine. The weather was perfect while we were there too! Sunny, and not too hot or humid. Kids were still in school, so it wasn’t crowded…

If you’re anything like me, food is a big part of vacation so I’m covering the spots where we dined while we were there, in case you’re heading that way any time soon!

I didn’t take a ton of pictures because I like to unplug from technology as much as possible while on vacation, but I did make sure to take food pictures to share because I love getting (and sharing) restaurant recommendations with friends.

Now, we did eat a lot at our condo so we could maximize our time relaxing on the beach (oh how I miss all the yummy Publix bread, and got my fill!), but it is nice to get out and have some fresh seafood, so here’s where we went:

Louis Louis

If you’re familiar with The Red Bar, in Grayton Beach, you might also know about, Louis Louis, in Santa Rosa Beach. It is a quaint New Orleans style restaurant, with a cozy atmosphere inside and out on their patio.

Their drink menu is larger than their dinner menu, but no worries there because all the food looked delicious.

We had a smoked tuna dip appetizer that was very tasty (something I may have to try and copy). For dinner I had the pan seared grouper, that was topped with a citrus caper sauce, and served with mashed potatoes and their house salad.

Louis Louis’s house salad dressing was so fresh and delicious, they really should bottle it and sell it!

Aside from eating lots of good food, did I mention that one of my favorite parts of the trip was just getting to read a book for hours, uninterrupted? I finished up a book on the drive down, then got into Reelfoot Killins,’ a book by a local author, Judge Joe D. Riley. It was a great, quick read. It even made me tear up a little!

Slick Lips Seafood and Oyster House

When looking for places to eat nearby, the funny name of this restaurant first caught my eye. After clicking on Slick Lips’s menu, however, the place actually looked really good! They have a wide variety of food, so if you’re traveling with picky eaters, chances are there will be something everyone likes on this menu.

Slick Lips is in the Baytowne Wharf in Sandestin, so it is a nice location to bring your whole family.

I had the fish taco’s, blackened, and they did not disappoint! It was very fresh too.

After dinner we all enjoyed some ice-cream too from an ice-cream shop in the Wharf. A great way to end the night!

Sunset Bay Cafe

I had eaten here on my last trip to Destin (YOU CAN SEE WHERE I ATE ON THAT TRIP HERE), but since no one else had tried it before we went again! They have such a wide-ranging menu, and a nice view of the bay on their porch, Sunset Bay Cafe is definitely a place to return to again and again.

This go-round I enjoyed one of their GIANT bloody mary’s and had their Banana Brûlée waffle, that came with a side of eggs and bacon. If you’re a fan of banana foster’s you’ll definitely love the Banana Brûlée breakfast. It was so sweet, and delicious; even the pecans were candied! I definitely left brunch in a food coma.

Cafe 30A

Cafe 30A was my favorite place we ate at this trip, and a place I will want to return to again and again with my family. We decided to dine here after a couple friends recommended it to us. The restaurant is located in Seagrove Beach, off of Scenic Highway 30A, as the name suggests. The restaurant has a great ambiance, and mouth watering meals.

For dinner I had Lobster with Crawfish, Truffle Mac n’ Cheese, it was TO DIE FOR! I am salivating just thinking about it again… I tried to savor the meal as much as possible, it was so good. There were definitely no leftovers on my plate, and I almost licked the bowl!
