Ahh, scones. The biscuit’s sexier cousin, and one of my favorite breakfast treats out there. Sweet, savory, fruity…. I love them all, and will end up eating them all day long if I have them lying around. I recently went on a scone baking extravaganza, and wanted to share the recipe that I used with you because this recipe made the perfect scone!
We recently had a baby shower brunch for my sister in law, Hogan. It was the most classic, and adorable shower, I can’t wait to share it with you! All the hostesses were in charge of bringing something, and I was in charge of the scones and tea sandwiches. I decided to make two different kinds: one sweet, and one savory. Here they are!
SAVORY | CHEDDAR CHIVE SCONES
I don’t make scones regularly (because they’re so addictive), so I turned to ol’ trusty, Pinterest, to find the right recipe. I came across THIS RECIPE and thought it looked good. Of course I tested it out by making one batch prior to making a ton for the party…

SWEET | CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONES
SUBSTITUTIONS
To adjust the recipe and make the scones sweet, instead of savory, I made a couple easy substitutions to the original recipe. I added a teaspoon of vanilla to the buttermilk and egg mixture before adding the wet to dry ingredients. And instead of the cheddar and chives, I used Nestle Mini Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips.
Now is there such thing as a scone detox? Because I need that STAT!
