Headed to the beach anytime soon? I am, and wanted to share a rundown on what I’m packing for a long weekend with the girls. I know it is very hard for some of us to pack light, so I am sharing some flat lays of versatile pieces, to show how you can pack less, but still have lots of options.

Here’s a sneak peek of what I’m packing for the beach. Can’t wait to have my toes in the sand, and a good book in hand!
Sun Protection
Sun protection is always #1 for a beach trip. Hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen is a must. I also like to pack a UPF popover, kaftan, and tunic, for something that allows more coverage when you feel like you’ve had a little too much sun.
Kimonos
I love a good kimono. They’re great for the beach, but they also transition well too, for a day or night out on the town. Kimonos are also very forgiving (they were a big go to when I was pregnant), and most are one size fits all. I love how light they are as well, so they don’t take up a lot of space in your bag!
Here’s how I transition my favorite kimono from a day at the beach to a night out:
Swimsuit: Anne Klein (Similar Here) | Kimono: Forever 21 (Under $20!) | Sun Glasses: Quay (Under $30 now!) | Shoes: Volcom (Under $30!) |Purse: Ebay (Under $20!) | Hat: Nordstrom Rack (Similar Here $12!)
Shorts: Venus (Similar Here under $30!)
Kimono: Forever 21 (Under $20!) | Tank Top: Target | Shorts: J Crew (50% Off!) | Hat: Banana Republic (Similar Here Under $10!) | Purse: Ebay (Under $20!) | Necklace: Kendra Scott | Wedges: Boden (Similar Here) | Rose Gold Toe Sandals: Amazon (Similar Here) | Rose Gold Wrap Thongs: Volcom
Kimono: Forever 21 | Top: J.C. Penny (Similar Here $5!) | Faux Leather Leggings: Spanx (ON SALE NOW!) | Wedges: Boden (Similar Here) | Booties: Ann Taylor (Similar Here) | Sandals: Volcom | Tassel Earrings: BaubleBar (NOW 50% OFF!) | Tortoise Earrings: J. Crew (Similar Here) | Sunglasses: Quay (50% off now!)
I recently went out on a date with Will and wore this exact outfit (above) with the faux leather Spanx leggings and I was really loving the look! It was casual, but still dressed up for a night out. I wore my Volcom flats for comfort, but if you wanted to dress it up even more, a pair of heels would compliment the look very nicely.
Stripes
I can’t travel to the beach without bringing something with a nautical vibe. Stripes are a favorite staple of mine, and always give a clean, fresh look. I love a good navy and white striped top with white shorts, jeans, or a skirt and a nice pair of sandals (or wedges depending if you want to dress it up or down).
Top Left: Boden Rosemary Jersey Top (50% off!)| Top Right Boden Lena Breton (40% off!) | Shorts: J. Crew (50% off!) | Sandals: Volcom | Sneakers: Superga | Hat: Banana Republic (Similar Here) | Sunglasses: Amazon | Earrings: J. Crew (Similar Here) | Gold Nail Bracelet: Accessory Concierge | Leather Bracelet: Mark and Graham
I’m in love with these striped tops, and they’re ON SALE NOW, AND THERE’S AN EXTRA 25% OFF WITH CODE F1N8 THROUGH THE 28TH!
Basics
Just like stripes, you can never go wrong packing some basics when you’re on a trip. Solid tees, and a pair of chinos or jeans always work, and also can be dressed up a little with a pair of wedges, a clutch, and some accessories.
For the summer I love wearing all white (although I now have a harder time keeping it clean with a baby and a puppy!). I also love navy and white for the summertime.
Perfect Tee: J.Crew | Tunic: Anthropologie (Similar Here)| Shorts: J. Crew (On Sale!) | Pants: Old Navy | Sandals: Volcom (Under $30!) | Sneakers: Superga | Purse: Ebay | Earrings: BaubleBar (50% OFF!)
Sun Dresses
You can never go wrong with sun dresses when you’re at the beach. They’re easy to wear and always look great!
One of my favorite fabrics for a dress in the summertime is an eyelet fabric. Eyelet gives me all the floral vibes without wearing a floral pattern. Especially in white, eyelets are so pretty and classy for the summertime!
Sandals
As a former Floridian, I used to live in sandals. Needless to say, I have a good amount of sandals in my closet. When it comes to sandals, you can never go wrong with a pair of Rainbows. Did you know about their guarantee? If you wear through a sole, they will replace your shoes for free! I’ve never worn through a pair completely, but it’s good to know just in case…
I am also loving the rose gold trend for shoes because the color can make a simple flat sandal look dressy if you need it to be.
LBD
An LBD is a travel essential. They can be dressed up in a pinch, and they’re always flattering when you’re eating your way through a vacation like I tend to do ;).
Swimwear
And of course when you’re traveling to the beach you got to bring your swimsuit! I got a couple new swimsuits this year because, after having a child, things just weren’t where they were before. So until I get everything back in place, I’m loving my new mom-suits from Boden (especially the retro one on the right!!!).
Swimsuit Left : Boden Formentera (ON SALE NOW!) | Swimsuit Right: Boden Santorini Right ( 50% OFF!) | Aviators: Diff | Cat Eye Sunnies: Quay (50% OFF!) | Black Sun Glasses: Amazon
